About the Course

Welcome to the Medieval World History course! Start here to access some important information.

Module 1: Byzantine and Muslim Civilizations

We will begin with a study of the Byzantine Empire that split off from the Roman Empire, its achievements, and the later rise of Islam.

Module 2: African Civilizations

Turning our attention to the African continent, we will explore the geography and achievements of various Western and Eastern African civilizations.

Module 3: Early American Civilizations

We will now head over to the western hemisphere, where we will explore the early southern, meso (or middle), and northern American civilizations.

Module 4: Asian Civilizations

In this module, we will take a look at the golden age of China, the events that occurred in medieval Japan, and the Great Mughal Empire in the Indian subcontinent.

Module 5.1: Europe in the Middle Ages

We will explore life in Europe immediately after the fall of the Roman Empire, an era known as the Middle Ages.

Fall Semester Exam

Midterm examination that assesses your mastery of Modules 4 through 5.1.
