This week we will briefly explore important developments from ancient Mesopotamian civilizations. We will also learn about Babylonian society through a historical investigation of Hammurabi's Code.

3. Week 3: Ancient Assyria and the Old Testament

This week we will focus on the historiographical skill known as "corroboration." We will use knowledge of the ancient Assyrian culture and the Old Testament to develop this skill.

4. Week 4: Conclusion of Ancient Civilizations

This week we will close our study of ancient civilizations. Use the materials from the prior weeks to inform your unit project!

5. Week 5: Athens and Democracy--Debate

We will spend this week focused on a critical debate: "Was Athens truly democratic?"

This week we will begin our unit on ancient Rome. We will learn what daily life may have looked like. We will also see how Rome transitioned from a Republic to an Empire.
